Leadership for Innovative Team Science (LITeS)

 About the Program

Leadership in Innovative Team Science (LITeS) is a year-long program designed for senior and mid-career faculty and academic administrators who aspire to improve their management and leadership skills. Sponsored by the Education, Training and Career Development (ETCD) Core of the CCTSI, this program provides professional and executive training tailored to the needs of academics in the biomedical, clinical, and health sciences. An important goal of the program is to create and sustain at Anschutz and UCD a strong network of colleagues who, in addition to their own work, will train the next generation of clinical and translational scientists

Meetings take place quarterly from 8AM-4PM on the following dates: September 26 & 27, 2013: December 5 & 6, 2013; February 13 & 14, 2014; April 17 & 18, 2014. LITeS participants must plan to attend all sessions barring unforeseen and unchangeable commitments elsewhere. Among this year’s planned seminar topics are: leadership and management styles, building effective teams, conflict management and dealing with difficult people, mentoring, coaching and thriving in our multi-generational workplace. The workshops are highly interactive, and small group projects will be a cornerstone. Executive coaching will be available on a limited basis to address your individual leadership challenges.

2012-2013 LITeS Team Science White Paper

You may have been aware that the 2012-13 LITeS cohort participated in a revamped program that differed from previous years in one important way. All participants worked throughout the year with an interdisciplinary team of 6 or 7 other LITeS participants; together they completed a project related to a question focused on Team Science. The projects addressed four issues related to enhancing Team Science at our University.

The final day of our program involved presentations of the cohort’s work to University leadership and other senior faculty and administrative staff who had served as resources to the group. President Bruce Benson attended the session along with Anschutz Vice President and Executive Vice Chancellor Lilly Marks, Chancellor Don Elliman, Vice Chancellor Dick Traystman, Deans Altiere, Kassebaum, and Thompson, as well as a number of others. We continue to receive accolades for the work carried out by the 2012-13 cohort.
